"Lovely stay"

Prior to booking, I saw the pics on Tripadvisor and was really quite excited. However, I was a little concerned upon arrival. The hotel is in located on a nondescript street, there was no one to help us with our luggage at the front door, it didn't really look or feel like a hotel and I was beginning to wonder what I had gotten us into. After maneuvering our way through the ground level, we came across the elevator and found our way to the reception area. It was pleasantly quiet and really quite impressive as the hotel is in quite an old building that has wonderfully high ceilings, crown molding, and beautifully carved doors. I was starting to feel better about the situation right away. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the reception desk who signed us in and found the bellman to assist us with our bags and show us our room. We asked to look at a couple of rooms, which they showed us, and we made our decision. It's really quite an interesting hotel that doesn't feel like a hotel. The hallway floors are, I believe, painted concrete, and there are Tuscan wall sconces thoughout the halls draped with simple sheer cloths. It was, for lack of a better word, very Tuscan and really quite nice. Simple and elegant are better words. The room we chose was very comfortable. It had hardwood floors, flat screen TV, nice millwork throughout, natural stone bathrooms with a tub/shower combo. Another thing I liked was the atomsphere; it was peaceful. People were not bustling in and out, in fact I rarely saw other guests. It had a very relaxing air about it. The room was equiped with complimentary bevarages from the mini bar, complimentary movies and complimentary wifi. Granted, the wifi didn't work in the room we stayed in, but it worked fine in the bar area - which was also beautiful; boasting a large fireplace, big, comfy over stuffed chairs and couches, friendly staff and tasteful music (jazz) playing in the background. You don't get the feel you are staying at a hotel here, you feel as though you are staying at someone's very lovely home. I really found this extremely satisfying and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing hotel that is away from the crowded areas, yet in a great location. It's a home away from home, with the perks of having people around to look after you.
